Counter-Strike 2 Update Refines Jump Consistency and Smoke Mechanics
Valve deploys a new update for Counter-Strike 2 that standardizes jump height regardless of map coordinate distance and improves landing detection on high surfaces. The patch updates weapon pickup logic around the C4 and lets HE grenades clear smoke screen effects.
Counter-Strike 2 receives a focused update targeting movement precision, grenade interactions, and weapon priority logic. The patch irons out discrepancies in jump heights relative to map origins and introduces quality-of-life adjustments for defusing near dropped weapons.
Jump Height and Movement Improvements
Jump height consistency is improved to stay within 0.015625 of a unit regardless of distance from the map origin at coordinate (0,0,0), down from the previous variance of up to 0.03125. Successfully landing on surfaces near maximum jump height is more reliable, and the client is no longer incorrectly pulled back down mid-jump when the server agrees the jump succeeded. The cl_showpos 2 output accurately displays stamina at takeoff with color-coded jump height indicators.
Weapons, Grenades, and Combat Feedback
Weapon pickup logic near the C4 bomb is adjusted to prioritize defusing over accidental weapon acquisition. Enemies consistently play a flinch animation on the closest hit when a bullet penetrates two hitboxes of equal priority. Furthermore, HE grenade explosions detonating within smoke clear the accumulated smoke screen effect for nearby players.
Map and Stability Fixes
Dust II receives a geometry fix to close an unintended gap in the map layout. General stability improvements are included to reduce client crashes.
Why this patch matters
This update makes behind-the-scenes adjustments to movement math and tactical grenade interactions, leading to tighter competitive play.
