Counter-Strike 2 August 8 2024 Update Patch Notes

Counter-Strike 2 updates Casual mode XP rewards, adjusts map voting restrictions, and brings workshop updates for Mills and Assembly.

Counter-Strike 2 releases an update adjusting Casual mode mechanics, voting restrictions across multiple game modes, and user interface elements alongside community map updates.

Game Modes and Scoring

Casual mode players earn an additional XP score point for every round in which they deal damage to enemies. Rescuing a hostage now correctly increments the objectives counter in match stats. Mills and Assembly are updated to their latest versions from the Community Workshop.

Voting Restrictions

A new server setting, sv_vote_to_changelevel_rndmin, controls the rounds or time allowed for level change votes. Official Casual servers restrict level change voting to the end of the match or the first round. Official Deathmatch and Arms Race servers restrict level change voting to the end of the match or the first minute.

Movement and Inventory

Upward movement is restricted when a teammate is boosted onto a player's head. Dead players can no longer pick up weapons from the ground. The buy menu automatically closes if the switch team menu opens.

Interface and Readability

Post-round damage reports feature improved legibility for damage given and taken. Spectator target highlighting is more pronounced, and player names remain visible on the mini scoreboard whenever it is expanded.

Why this patch matters

This patch targets quality-of-life adjustments in the UI and voting systems while refining standard gameplay rules for Casual and Deathmatch.
