Coal Duty Demo Update 0.2.24.1 Overhauls Multiplayer and Lockpicking
The latest Coal Duty demo update refines multiplayer stability, adds new security cameras and NPCs, and fixes loot container bugs. It also adjusts sprinting mechanics and radiation damage falloff.
Coal Duty developer team released demo update v0.2.24.1, bringing a batch of quality-of-life adjustments and bug fixes to the current demo build while development continues on the full early access release.
Multiplayer and System Fixes
Multiplayer lockpicking reliability is improved, and locked loot containers no longer consume a lockpick without yielding items. A new multiplayer lobby is added alongside ladder detection fixes for shrunk players. Shrinking and returning to normal size now transition more smoothly, and escape-plan materials can now be deposited across multiple construction stages.
Gameplay and Combat Adjustments
Sprinting is tweaked so exhausting stamina now requires pressing the sprint key again. Radiation warning effects and damage falloff receive improvements, while explosive-rat damage no longer passes directly through cover. Explosive rats also feature updated audio and explosion visuals, accompanied by hit feedback for creature corpses.
World Additions and Audio
New NPCs, security cameras, and tutorials join the demo build. Item animations, melee sounds, weapon impact sounds, footstep audio, and environmental audio are all updated. The shop also features a new miner note, and UI wording and translations are refreshed across all 11 supported languages.
Why this patch matters
Update 0.2.24.1 addresses key pain points in the Coal Duty demo, specifically targeting inventory and multiplayer lockpicking issues while adding foundational systems for early access.
