Brawlhalla Update Previews UI Overhaul, Damage Numbers, and Skirmishes
Brawlhalla details an upcoming UI refresh, optional damage numbers, and a new limited-time faction event called Skirmishes. The developer also released a Steam tech-test build targeting PC performance stutters.
Brawlhalla developer team outlined upcoming additions in a September 2024 development update, covering user interface refreshes, competitive quality-of-life tools, limited-time events, and PC performance testing.
PC Performance and Tech-Test
A dedicated build on the Steam tech-test branch addresses graphical stutters during gameplay on PC, particularly on high refresh rate monitors. The development team is also preparing to upgrade the client from 32-bit to 64-bit to allow the game to utilize more system memory.
UI Overhaul and Damage Numbers
The game's user interface is receiving its first major overhaul to match the branding and logo refresh from the previous year. Updates include Legend splash art in the Legend select screen, a redesigned top-right player menu, new fonts, and new buttons. Additionally, an opt-in Damage Numbers feature can now be toggled in the top-right player menu to display exact damage taken next to each health bar.
Skirmishes Faction Events
Skirmishes are limited-time events running for one to two weeks that divide players into preference-themed teams called Factions to compete for points called Influence. Players earn Influence by playing regular matches, with bonus Influence awarded for playing Ranked against opposing factions. Participants choose a faction upon logging in to receive unique items and titles, with special versions awarded to the winning faction. The first Skirmish is scheduled to launch in October.
Why this patch matters
This development update prepares Brawlhalla for its tenth anniversary with meaningful additions, giving competitive players requested tools like damage numbers while laying groundwork for modernised UI and technical performance.
