Brawlhalla Patch 9.02 Overhauls Challenges And Rebalances Weapon Signatures

Patch 9.02 brings a complete rework to Brawlhalla's Challenges menu, graduates the Bubble Bomb into public matchmaking, and adjusts weapon balance across Axe, Cannon, and Sword. Players can also prepare for the upcoming Pancakes vs Waffles Skirmish starting January 22.

Brawlhalla v9.02 shakes up competitive play with a massive restructuring of offline training challenges, map pool alterations, and adjustments to numerous weapon recoveries, lights, and legend signatures. The update also brings the Bubble Bomb out of test features and into every queue.

Challenge Menu Rework

The Challenges Preview replaces its branching UI with a single scrollable menu. Over 30 challenges are immediately unlocked, covering game mechanics, unarmed strings, and individual weapon tutorials across multiple difficulty levels. The menu is accessible from the Offline Play menu under the Tutorials button.

Weapon and Legend Adjustments

Several weapons receive recovery and cooldown tweaks to curb safe options in team games. Axe and Rocket Lance neutral airs have reduced backward acceleration on hit. Cannon down light and down air carry heavier recovery or cooldown frames on miss, while Gauntlet neutral air and Orb side air have increased recovery on miss. Sword side light gains stun with reduced force, and its recovery attack has less force. Legend signatures for Azoth, Imugi, Kor, Reno, Sir Roland, and Wu Shang are also adjusted for force, damage, and startup frames.

Bubble Bomb and Map Pool Changes

The Bubble Bomb is active in all queues, trapping opponents in a floating pink bubble that limits movement unless dodged. In map updates, Mos Eisley Spaceport joins the 1v1 and 2v2 tournament map pools, while Apocalypse is removed. Tournament maps also receive a quality-of-life pass to standardize weapon spawn zones and team initial spawns.

Upcoming Skirmish and Cosmetics

Following Team Naughty's victory in the first Skirmish, the next community event pits Pancakes against Waffles starting January 22 and running until February 5. Participants earn influence through online matchmaking to unlock tier-based titles and animated avatars for the winning faction. Mallhalla introduces the Mirage's Fury KO effect, Snowboarding emote, new sidekicks, avatars, and the Hardlight weapon set.

Why this patch matters

Patch 9.02 delivers concrete adjustments to dominant team-play weapon choices while modernizing the training experience for newcomers and veterans alike.
