Baldur's Gate 3 Console Hotfix #29 Imposes Mod Limits
Larian Studios has released Hotfix #29 for Baldur's Gate 3 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The update introduces a strict 100-mod limit to resolve memory and stability issues.
Larian Studios has pushed out a new console-exclusive hotfix for Baldur's Gate 3. Hotfix #29 addresses ongoing performance crashes linked to console file limitations by capping the total number of active mods a player can run.
Console Mod Restrictions
Consoles handle loaded files differently than PC builds, creating a hard bottleneck when too many user-made modifications run simultaneously. To maintain game stability, the developers have implemented a strict 100-mod ceiling for console platforms. Any local mod setups exceeding this amount will experience automatic uninstalls for the excess files.
Cross-Save Complications
Cross-saving between PC and console will encounter road bumps if your save file utilizes more than 100 mods. Console builds cannot currently load these heavy saves. Players must boot the game on a PC to manually prune their active mod lists below the threshold before returning to their console. Larian states a future patch will give console users direct ways to access blocked saves.
Why this patch matters
Hotfix #29 is an enforced technical necessity for console stability, though cross-save users with heavily modded playthroughs will need to adjust their setups manually.
