Avowed Patch 1.2.3 Fixes Major Crashes, Quest Blockers, and Arcane Veil

Obsidian Entertainment has released patch 1.2.3 for Avowed, resolving critical game crashes, quest progression blockers, and companion behavior issues. The update also rebalances Arcane Veil and cleans up environmental hazards and UI elements.

Obsidian Entertainment has rolled out update 1.2.3 for Avowed. The patch addresses multiple crash scenarios, fixes broken quest triggers across various regions, rebalances the Arcane Veil ability, and refines companion responsiveness in combat.

Crash Fixes and Stability

The update resolves a crash related to GameThread timing out, along with a crash that occurred when pressing ESC after climbing a ladder. PC players who lose internet connection while signed into an Xbox Account will no longer experience crashes, and a rare rendering-related crash has been fixed.

Quest and Area Progression

Numerous quest blockers are resolved in this patch. Yatzli now correctly advances A Path to the Garden even if One Last Drink was finished early. Ofryc appears as intended in Paradis during Dawntreader, and Shadows of the Past progresses properly when entering Naku Kubel immediately. Sanza now rewards the player correctly and removes Wilfrith's Map from the inventory. Other fixes address missing quest markers, broken end slides, and unintended sequence breaks in Shatterscarp and Dawnshore.

Combat and Balance Adjustments

Arcane Veil receives balance changes, with damage reduction lowered from 50 percent to 25 percent and cooldown increased from 10 seconds to 15 seconds. Companions assist in combat more reliably and no longer disappear after skipping cutscenes. Enemy waves spawn correctly, newly spawned enemies detect players properly, and melee weapons other than one-handed swords now trigger camera shakes on impact.

Environment and Movement

Characters are no longer affected by electrified water when standing above, jumping over, or standing on an ice platform. The Pyromancer in Dawnshore no longer clips into the ground, and players can no longer use parkour to bypass parts of Boundaries of Antiquity. Camera lurches when opening small lockboxes and brief levitation after opening sarcophagi have also been removed.

Audio, Visuals, and UI

Music mix volumes have been adjusted across Emerald Stair, Galawain's Tusks, Shatterscarp, and The Garden. Sound effects for Arduous Delay of Motion and Barbaric Shout now play correctly. Store screens no longer display incorrect insufficient funds text, cloud syncing features more descriptive error messages, and inventory values are hidden for non-sellable items.

Why this patch matters

Patch 1.2.3 is a sweeping maintenance update that clears out stubborn progression blockers and smooths out combat interactions.
