Apex Legends Update Adds US-West Cross-Play Matchmaking Test and Fixes Broken Moon Bug

Apex Legends is running a cross-play matchmaking test on US-West servers until November 3 to shorten queue times. The latest update also patches a floor geometry exploit on Broken Moon and removes lingering skydive emote audio.

Respawn Entertainment has rolled out a new update for Apex Legends focused on a regional matchmaking test and bug fixes. The patch introduces a forced cross-play test in US-West servers to tighten skill bands and reduce queue times, alongside environment and audio corrections.

US-West Cross-Play Matchmaking Test

Starting October 7 at approximately 10am PT, Apex Legends runs a matchmaking test across all platforms on US-West servers. Cross-play becomes the default option for these servers until the current season ends on November 3. The stated goal is to shorten queue times and tighten skill bands. Console players who prefer not to participate can opt out by disabling cross-play in their in-game settings menu.

Bug Fixes and Environment Corrections

The update resolves a geometry issue in the Terraformer area on Broken Moon, preventing players from clipping into the ground where floor collision was missing. It also fixes an audio bug where Gibraltar skydive emote sound effects persisted after landing on the ground.

Why this patch matters

This update centers on gathering matchmaking data for US-West servers while clearing up a notable collision exploit on Broken Moon.
