Apex Legends Takeover Update Overhauls Weapons and Assault Perks

Apex Legends launches its seventh year with the Takeover update, featuring major buffs for Ash and Ballistic alongside revamped Assault Class perks and sweeping weapon adjustments. The patch also streamlines helmets, caps shield progression at level 3, and cuts muzzle flash visual noise by 95%.

Apex Legends kicks off its anniversary season with changes aimed at increasing combat speed and reducing visual clutter. The Takeover patch brings heavy buffs to underused legends, reworks the Assault Class passive toolset, and implements across-the-board weapon adjustments.

Legend and Class Adjustments

Ash receives improved Arc Snare reliability, a faster Phase Breach ultimate, and a new omnidirectional short-range dash passive called Predator's Pursuit. Ballistic integrates his extra charge and sling leveling into his base kit, gains a speed bonus during Tempest, and can now carry crate weapons in his sling that spool with infinite ammo during his ultimate. Meanwhile, Assault Class legends gain Combat Reserve extra ammo storage, two grenade-only inventory slots, stowed weapon auto-reloads after two seconds, and Battle Surge speed bursts upon breaking enemy shields.

Loot, Armor, and Visual Clarity

Low-tier white, blue, and purple helmets have been removed and replaced with rare high-value helmets. Armor no longer upgrades to red tier at level 4, capping standard shields at level 3, though red shields remain accessible via the new Mythic Armor Upgrade Helmet. To clear up gunfights, first-person weapon muzzle flashes have been overhauled, reducing sparks, smoke, and glows by 95% over the line of sight.

Why this patch matters

Takeover accelerates the combat pace significantly by lowering defensive armor caps, boosting weapon lethality, and stripping away visual clutter during firefights.
