A Game About Penguins Update Adds Gliders, Delivery Quests, and an 8-Player Survival Minigame
Alican returns from a hand injury with a massive update for A Game About Penguins, introducing Hezarfen's Glider, a new restaurant delivery system, and the 8-player Penguin Game survival minigame. The patch also reworks fishing mechanics, adds specialized island shops, and upgrades the phone map with custom destination markers.
Development on A Game About Penguins resumes following a hand injury to lead 3D artist Alican. The latest update delivers a full movement system for gliders, a brand-new multiplayer survival mode, expanded racing mechanics, and a reworked fishing experience designed to make exploration more engaging.
New Movement Systems and Gliders
Hezarfen's Wind Test now awards players a glider upon completion. The glider features a full movement suite that lets players glide, dive, climb, and air-roll using A and D keys. Diving builds momentum that carries over when leveling out, and new wind trails and camera movements accompany high-speed dives and slides.
Deliveries, Shops, and Onboarding
Players can take on food delivery orders from the restaurant, earning fish rewards for completing milestone counts of 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 daily deliveries. Specialized shops replace generic vendors across the island for fishing, houses, party food, snow vehicles, and upgrades, complete with direct selling and animated counter bells. New players encounter a prompt asking what to do next after onboarding, which spawns a 3D direction arrow to guide them toward selected activities.
Penguin Game and Racing Overhauls
Penguin Game introduces an 8-player survival tournament featuring four rotating rounds: Falling Tiles, Laser Rush, Spinning Arms, and Falling Rock. Eliminated players can spectate surviving participants. Racing and Climb Up gain dedicated time trial modes with ghost runs of personal bests, alongside redesigned vehicle and map selection screens.
Fishing Reworks and Map Navigation
Early fishing progression is faster, and nine specific rods receive updated models and icons alongside more dynamic fish movement patterns and improved controller vibration. The phone map supports destination markers, zooming, and dragging, paired with a blue tracking line, direction arrows, and 3D quest markers.
Controller Support and Bug Fixes
Steam Deck users gain automatic on-screen keyboard prompts for text fields, controller-friendly cursors, and dynamic button prompts. Miscellaneous fixes resolve floating world-space text, phone interactions pausing hand items incorrectly, and reset coins defaulting correctly to 300.
Why this patch matters
This update transforms A Game About Penguins from a relaxed sandbox into a feature-rich social playground, addressing early navigation hurdles while giving returning players fresh multiplayer and movement toys to master.
