Among Us Update v2024.10.29 Fixes Black Screens and UI Glitches

Among Us version v2024.10.29 is live, resolving an endless black screen issue for banned players trying to join lobbies alongside a wide range of UI, audio, and visual fixes.

Among Us has received a bug-focused update, version v2024.10.29, aimed at clearing out interface glitches, audio balance issues, and progression snags across multiple platforms.

Lobby and Ban Fixes

Attempting to start an online lobby while under a temporary or permanent ban no longer forces the game into an endless black screen. In addition, copying a room code now correctly makes the confirmation text disappear.

Visual and UI Adjustments

The Tracker ability display now reads TRACK instead of TRACKER. Cursors in the chat, Edit Name, and Add Friend windows are aligned properly. Store and wardrobe visuals now display correctly at 3440x1440 resolution. Chat bubbles no longer break through the chat window during scrolling, and chat layering issues in multiple windows are resolved. Special characters now display consistent fonts. Game setting updates show the correct icons and colors on the left side of the screen. Plus and minus buttons in role settings continue to function after selecting a game preset and no longer stay highlighted after selection. The friends list icon stays put when accepting a game invite, and the host icon visors and hats layer correctly. Hats also layer properly when stacking on the Dropship, and visors look correct during ladder animations. The map icon no longer triggers button click sound effects at the start of a match. Furthermore, an extraneous controller button icon no longer appears during the Inspect Samples task when playing without a controller.

Audio and Gameplay Corrections

The Skeld lobby song volume has been lowered, though players can fine-tune levels further using the settings volume slider. Practice dummies now correctly respawn after an Emergency Meeting is called. Crewmates also avoid getting frozen in climbing animations if a Mushroom Mixup occurs while on a ladder.

Backend Security Updates

The backend team implemented fixes targeting a series of recent hacks impacting public lobbies. The developers note that combating hacks is an ongoing process similar to resolving sabotages and encourage players to submit support tickets with descriptive information or media when encountering disruptive behavior.

Why this patch matters

This patch delivers a massive cleanup of lingering interface annoyances and critical lobby bugs, making day-to-day navigation smoother while bolstering backend defenses against recent exploits.
